There are 365 beaches on
Antigua, one for each day of the year. The great majority rest inside
the calm, protected waters of the island's Caribbean side. Dickenson Bay and Runaway Bay, located along the island's developed
northwestern coast, are the place to go for those who want the
fully-loaded resort beach experience. Enjoy casinos and great diving
with offshore wrecks and reefs.
Temperatures generally range from the mid-seventies in the winter to the
mid-eighties in the summer. Annual rainfall averages only 45 inches,
making it the sunniest of the Eastern Caribbean Islands, and the
northeast trade winds are nearly constant, flagging only in September.
Low humidity year-round.
Antigua is blessed by with a
crenulated coastline, rainforests, volcanic-based hills reaching up to
1,300 feet, lowlands and nonstop beaches. Today, English Harbour and
Nelson's Dockyard are thriving yacht ports and home to notables like
Eric Clapton whose stone villa rests on a rocky outcrop nearby.

Outstanding Soft
White Sand - Clear Turquoise Water - Fragrant Flowers
Dickenson's
Bay is a beautiful beach. It is only about half a mile long, but the soft
powdery sand and the beautiful ocean made you wish it would go on
forever. There is no seaweed, rocks, pebbles, or sharp shells, so swimming
and walking along the edge were comfortable and relaxing.

Review:
Just returned from Sandals, Antigua. We had an absolutely wonderful time.
The island is spectacular. We are very glad that we picked Sandals. The
beach was beautiful and the grounds were exquisite. We enjoyed the food
and there was plenty to do (if you wanted to) or you could just spend the
day relaxing on the beach or just walking around the grounds admiring the
scenery. A definite must see!

Bottom Line:
It is a Winning Island
Paradise with the Award Winning Ultra All Inclusive Sandals Grande Antigua
Located on Dickinsons Bay and being voted
WORLDS MOST ROMANTIC RESORT 10 YEARS in a ROW !
Located in the Southern Caribbean Out of the Hurricane Belt
with Gorgeous Gardens & Flowers. One of the Best Backdrops for a
Wedding and Honeymoon. A True Tropical Paradise. It Has One of
the Calmest Bays for Swimming & Snorkeling. It is a Perfect Honeymooners
Island.
It Takes Time to Get There in the Southern Caribbean but it is Worth
It.
Best Souvenir
Visit Sarah Fuller's Pottery Stand on Redcliffe Quay to take home one of
her handmade pottery light sconces. You'll see them all over the island
in homes, hotels and downtown areas. Lights shine through cut-out
designs of lizards, fish, seahorses, flowers and other shapes. Small
scones are $37 U.S.
Best
Cocktail
Be sure to order a Wadadli beer, a light beer made on the island or a
rum punch made with Antigua Cavalier Rum, also made locally. Too soon
for happy hour? For a cool thirst quencher, try a lime squash, an island
specialty made with club soda, fresh lime juice and sugar.
Jabberwock
Beach is the best place to learn the sport of kite surfing; wind
conditions always seem to be ideal, and private lessons are available at
the professional school located at Sunsail Colonna. Or just lie on the
beautiful beach and watch the aerial acrobatics of those more adventurous
than you.
Restaurant
Tip: "A must if
you visit Antigua"
This attractive
outdoor restaurant is right on the beach next to Siboney. As its name
suggests it is under a bunch of swaying coconut palms. I ate almost all of
my meals there and was never disappointed. I will warn that the prices are
high as is typical in the caribbean. The service was always friendly if at
times a bit slow. But who cares, you shouldn.t be in a hurry on vacation
anyway. Iloved talking to different people and also staring out over the
crystal clear waters.
