Sandals All Inclusive Resort Awards & Reviews

Sandals didn't invent the all-inclusive concept, but over the years we've perfected it. For a decade, we have earned every award and accolade in the industry, placing Sandals leagues above any other all-inclusive resort. But the greatest reward of all is the high level of guest satisfaction we enjoy, with more than half of our guests having stayed with us before. Sandals is not only the World's Best in the eyes of the travel industry, but the best-loved resorts in the hearts of couples around the world.
Modern Bride Magazine proclaimed Sandals "The Best All-Inclusive Resort Chain," and the readers of Brides Magazine voted Sandals "World's Number One All-inclusive Honeymoon Destination."

Review: Royal Bahamian Nassau August 5, 2007 :We have just returned from a week at the Sandals Royal Bahamaian. The hotel is magnificent and we have never experienced such incredible service before.
We stayed in the Windsor Grande Luxe Oceanview Concierge Room. It is perfect. Our favorites were the mini-bar and the balcony overlooking the beautiful blue ocean.

The staff everywhere seemed to genuinly care about our happiness. Every where we looked a staff member was smiling at us, asking if they could do anything to make our stay more enjoyable.

The pools are beautiful ~ we LOVED the swim-up bars.
You have got to try the Pina Colads ~ YUMMY!!!

Every restaurant was delicious! There is somthing to eat for everyone, at anytime of the day. Our favorite was the Cricketer's Pub because it's open until the early morning hours when we were just ready to eat dinner! :-)

Overall I would say this is the best hotel we have ever stayed at. It was so romantic and relaxing. I highly reccomend staying to here to couples of all ages.

Review:  The Grande St Lucian is on a causeway and technically both sides face the water...HOWEVER... I think you'll like the BEACHSIDE rooms better. They face Rodney Bay. The OCEANSIDE rooms face out to Martinique some 25 miles in the distance.. and they overlook parking lots. We were in a swim-up lagoon room with concierge service. We had breakfast on our patio almost every morning. And the lagoon pool is very quiet. I don't think I ever saw more than 6 people in the entire pool and they mostly were on floaties in front of their room. None of the swim-up lagoon rooms have a view of the ocean, but you can see ocean any time. You're on an island. :) I would say, if you don't get a swim-up lagoon room, but you like it a bit on the quieter side, then get a room on the beachside in either the Rodney Bay building or the Massade building. Those are at the quieter end of the resort and there's a (quiet) pool right in front of those buildings. The Cap Estate, Bonne Terre, and Pigeon Island buildings are at the main pool end of the resort. Do NOT get oceanside from one of those buildings unless you like looking at the water and sewage treatment buildings. :) Not all that bad, but you don't want oceanside in those buildings, really. If you take oceanside in Monchy bulding, be on a top floor room, then the view off to Martinique would be pretty. I really think you'll be happier with a beachside room though, especially if this is a first visit to St Lucia.
The swim-up lagoon room is excellent. It is almost like having your own pool.
While on St Lucia book one of the catamaran cruises to Soufriere and see the volcano, diamond falls, and botanical gardens. They stop for snorkeling on the way back. Also... walk out the main gate of the Grande and walk down the road a very short way to the left and go into Pigeon Island park and go up to the ruins of the fort up there. It's a stunning view. Take your camera. There is also a guided tour of the park. It's close, it costs about 5 bucks and it was a very nice morning walk.
Get to the Castries market if you're there on a Saturday especially. As much as you're paying for the Grande this may sound silly, but GET OFF THE RESORT and go out and meet St Lucians... they're wonderful people and it's a gorgeous island. The Grande is a nice introduction.

The only difference between the rooms is (a) the view and (b) whether they have concierge service. The concierge service meant that you have robes, a CD player, spirits (rum, vodka, gin and whiskey) in your room and beer, wine and sparkling wine in your fridge in addition to soft drinks and bottled water that you get in all rooms.
The concierge rooms also mean that you have access to 24 hour room service, although there is a limited breakfast menu available in the other room types.
We had one of the beachview honeymoon concierge penthouse rooms (top (3rd) floor of building 5. This is the building closest to Pigeon Island and was extremely quiet). The view across to Rodney Bay was lovely.

The Concierge Oceanfront Penthouse level is great. The option that a lot of couples choose is the Concierge Beachfront Honeymoon Penthouse.

It looks like buildings 3-Rodney Bay and 5-Massade have beachfront rooms that don't face the pool. Also, when we priced it out, it looks like it would only be about $150 more for a Penthouse Beachfront with Concierge, than a Grande Luxe Beachfront with no Concierge. I think the slightly superier view and concierge service is worth that much, but if it were any more, I'm not sure we'd go for it.

Rodnet Bay and Massade buldings do have beachfront rooms and there is a "quiet pool" between the bulidings and the beach. You'd want to get out there in the morning and reserve a lounger by putting a towel on it, but it really is a nice pool away from the hussle bustle of the main pool. You can ALSO simply walk around the other side of those buildings and walk out onto the lagoon pool "island" if you want even more privacy. Rarely did I see all loungers taken there (can't remember EVER seeing them all taken actually) and just really not a lot of people in the lagoon pool ever.
If you are on the beachside of Rodney Bay or Massade and you want a view from your balcony, then you'd want one of the top floor rooms. Hey all the rooms are really about the same size except for the limited number of suites. So it's really all about where you want to be. :)
